Allen County Ohio
Allen County was formed from territory held by Native Americans in 1831. The county takes its name from Ethan Allen, an Aerican Revolutionary War soldier that led the "Green Mountain Boys."
The county seat is Lima, Ohio. In 1885 the discovery of oil by Benjamin Faurot brought booming prosperity to the the city. After the oil fields slowed, Allen county still maintained a position of importance with factories as well as oil refineries.
Principle industries in Allen County include machinery manufacturing, transportation equipment, fabricated metals, food and petroleum refining.
