I was born in Ohio, but wasn't raised here and didn't come back to Ohio till later in my life. But, my mother was raised in Ohio as was her mother and her mother before. So, I know there's a definite style of cooking that comes with where your heart belongs.
Ohio home cooking has a rich blend of Amish and German basics. In some parts of the state, Irish embellishments have a stronger influence, as does Polish. Today, Ohio, like most parts of the country, really is a melting pot where you can find a variety of ethnic foods that have become traditional favorites even for those families whose heritage may be strongly influenced by one culture, have adopted the foods of another with surprising results.
We shall try to bring some light dishes that have been long-time favorites around our household as well as those from other parts of the state.
