Big Bear Warehouse

Grandview Yard

Just west of SR315 and on the east side of Grandview Heights is the former Big Bear warehouses, construction has begun on a new project. Nationwide Realty Investors (NRI) recently released plans to redevelop the massive complex and call it Grandview Yard.

Several years ago, NRI paid over $18 million for the Big Bear complex and since then they have been buying much of the surrounding property from Goodale north to Third Avenue. All told, it adds up to about 80 acres of wholesale and industrial-type properties.

Plans call for integrating some of the old buildings, with new, to create an retail, residential, office complex similar to what has happened around Nationwide Arena. There is also plans for a "Main Street" running between Goodale Boulevard and W. 3rd Avenue. Stores, restaurants, offices and homes would line the street. Parking garages would be located behind the development. Three city parks are included. Hotels also are a possibility. No timetable has been released and officials say it will be a long term project.
